UPI Payment QR Code Generator
UPI is how India pays, from street stalls to rent. A UPI QR code lets anyone with a UPI app pay you straight into your bank account by scanning. Enter your UPI ID (the address that looks like name@bank) and, optionally, the payee name shown to the payer, a fixed amount in rupees and a note such as an invoice number. QRPebble builds a standard upi://pay link. Leave the amount empty for a counter code that customers fill in themselves, or set it for a specific bill so nobody pays the wrong figure.
Static code: the data is encoded directly, so it never expires and is not tracked. Need to change the link after printing or count scans? Create a free dynamic code.
How to make it
- Enter your UPI ID in the UPI ID field, e.g. yourname@okbank.
- Add the Payee name so payers see who they're paying.
- Optionally set an Amount in INR (e.g. 250 or 250.50) and a Note like 'Invoice 1042'.
- Download and pay yourself a small amount from a different UPI app to confirm everything reads correctly.
What gets encoded
The payload is a UPI deep link: upi://pay?pa=<UPI ID>&pn=<payee>&am=<amount>&cu=INR&tn=<note>. Only pa and cu are always present, and the others are added when you fill them. Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM and other UPI apps read this format and open a prefilled payment screen. Most phone camera apps won't handle upi:// on their own, so payers should scan from inside their UPI app. Some banks limit payments to personal UPI IDs for business use; merchant accounts may need a code issued by your bank or payment provider.
Where people use it
- Shop and stall counters accepting walk-in payments
- Tuition, society maintenance or club fees
- Printed invoices with a fixed amount and invoice number
- Collecting contributions for a trip or event
Tips before you print
- Use the payee name exactly as registered with your bank so payers recognise it on the confirmation screen.
- A counter code without an amount is flexible; set the amount only on bill-specific codes.
- Laminate counter codes and check them daily for stickers placed on top, a known UPI fraud tactic.
- At 3–4 cm the code scans easily from a counter; go larger if customers scan from a queue.
FAQ
Which apps can scan it?
Any UPI app, including Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm and BHIM, reads upi://pay codes.
Can I use it for my business?
Many small sellers use personal UPI IDs, but for higher volumes your bank may require a merchant UPI ID. Check your bank's terms.
Is the money routed through QRPebble?
No. The code only holds your UPI details; payments go directly from the payer's bank to yours.
