Twitch Channel QR Code Generator

A Twitch QR code turns a flyer at a gaming café, a convention badge or a sticker on your merch into a new follower. Enter your channel name and QRPebble builds the twitch.tv link, checking Twitch's 4 to 25 character rule for letters, numbers and underscores. When your stream is live, scanners land right on it. When you're offline, they see your channel page with schedule and past broadcasts. It's also a neat trick for IRL streams and charity events, where you can show the code on camera or print it for people nearby.

Static code: the data is encoded directly, so it never expires and is not tracked. Need to change the link after printing or count scans? Create a free dynamic code.

How to make it

  1. Enter your channel name in the Twitch channel field, the name in twitch.tv/yourname.
  2. Check the preview shows twitch.tv/yourname.
  3. Pick colours; Twitch purple is dark enough to scan on white.
  4. Download and scan to check it opens your channel in the Twitch app or browser.

What gets encoded

The encoded link is https://www.twitch.tv/<channel>. With the Twitch app installed, phones generally open the channel in the app; otherwise it opens in the mobile browser. When the channel is live, the stream starts on the channel page, so no separate 'live' link is needed. The link can't point to a specific VOD or clip. For that, copy the clip URL into the URL generator.

Where people use it

  • Stream overlays and 'follow me' on-screen panels
  • Gaming convention badges and flyers
  • Merch tags and stickers
  • Charity stream posters at local events

Tips before you print

  • On stream, show the code at least 200 pixels wide for a few seconds; tiny overlay codes fail on compressed video.
  • Purple on white scans well; avoid purple on black, which has too little contrast.
  • Put your schedule in your channel panels, since offline scanners land on the channel page.

FAQ

Will it open my stream when I'm live?

Yes. The channel page plays your live stream automatically when you're broadcasting.

Can viewers scan it from their screen?

Yes, as long as it's shown large enough and long enough on stream for a second phone to focus on.

Can I link a clip?

Paste the clip URL into the URL QR generator; this form builds channel links.
