What gets encoded
For a package name the payload is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=<package>. If you paste a Play Store URL, it's kept as given after validation. Android phones with the Play Store open the listing directly in the app. iPhones and desktops get the Play Store website instead. The package name must look like a Java-style ID, with at least two dot-separated segments that start with a letter. It's case-sensitive and permanent for a published app, so the code keeps working across app updates.
